The short answer…I don’t recommend bringing a hype woman to your boudoir session. But let’s dig a little deeper.

Planning a boudoir experience is a highly personal process and can be very intimate. For that reason, my answer to any of your questions is usually something along the lines of “whatever makes you feel most comfortable and and ease.” When I get asked “Can I bring a friend to my session?” here are a few questions to ask yourself to help guide your decision:

1. How close are you? Like…let’s be real here for a moment. Do you hang out in your underwear, get glammed up, and pose for photos together? Are you comfortable wearing very little in front of your friend?
2. Do you feel like you can turn on your sexy in front of an audience? Boudoir is intimate, celebratory, and empowering. We have to tap into our power and sometimes it’s hard to do that in front of an audience.
3. What kind of personality/energy will your hype woman bring to your boudoir session? I’ve seen a range – women who truly celebrate each other and you know I’m here for that. BUT, I’ve also seen (with the best intentions) women who love to give suggestions, which can be distracting during your session. I am your posing guru and I promise I won’t steer you in the wrong direction!

So now that you know why I don’t suggest bringing along a friend or hype woman to your boudoir session, let me say that this experience is about you. Your wants. Your needs. If you feel like a friend will make you feel more comfortable, help you uncover your sexy and won’t distract you during your session, do it!

If that answer is yes, you’d like to bring a friend it’s important to set some ground rules!

1. They must be empowering and supportive.
2. They cannot make suggestions or have any artistic say in the shoot. This makes things more complicated and hinders my ability to deliver the best experience.
3. They have to steer clear of my shooting space. I have mirrors, windows and a limited amount of space to shoot in. Adding people to the mix means I have to watch out for reflections.
