Now that you’ve booked your session, the fun begins. We’ll start with a questionnaire to set the foundation for your session and dig a little bit deeper about how to make this a transformational experience for you. Once complete, I start to work on your mood board where we develop a look and concept collaboratively. Finally, we’ll schedule a pre-session consultation to get you ready to rock and go over the final details to make it all come to life.
next up: pamper
During your session, you’ll be pampered to the max. Because you deserve it. This experience isn’t just about pretty photos (we’ll get those too...I promise), it’s about the journey. That journey begins with settling into hair and makeup in my private studio. A curated playlist will give you all the feels and champagne will be flowing. Once you’re glammed up, it’s time for your big reveal, where you get to see your vision come together for the first time.
next up: action
By now, those butterflies you were feeling might be making a comeback. But my absolute favorite part of this experience is watching the transformation that takes place. Going from slightly nervous to letting your inner bombshell emerge is going to take your confidence to the next level. where I will coach and cheer you on every step of the way. I will give you very clear and concise posing instructions and will often mirror the desired poses to help bring them to life. There will never be a “I don’t know what to do with my hands” ricky bobby moment.
next up: celebrate
Ready for this... you get to see your images the SAME DAY!!! The fun and excitement doesn’t end once we stop shooting. We'll break for an hour-ish and you'll come back to view your photos and design your album! That woman that you’re about to see? I’d like to introduce you to your inner goddess. Back at the studio I’ll reveal your images together side by side. We get to know each other pretty well throughout this process and I love sharing this moment with you. We’ll go through your images and talk about the best way to enjoy them.
In short, we’re going to have fun.
back to: prep
"Be brave enough to take off the masks you wear out there and get to know who you are underneath it all. Be vulernable enough to accept your flaws and know that they are what make you human; they are what make you real. Be confident enough to accept and cherish your strengths. Don't minimize them or hide them...they are your beautiful gifts to share with the world. Be brave enough to say, you know what, all of this is who I am. I make so many mistakes. I can be forgetful. I am messy. But...I am doing my best with what I've got. And I am so proud of that. I am so proud of me. I am proud of who I am becoming." - Nikki Banas
You are on a mission to love yourself fiercely.
You love hard and go deep. Life is too short for superficial. Tell me your story, tell me what you love about yourself. Tell me what makes you, you.
You are damn proud of the body you’ve been given and want to celebrate it.
You have an obsession with one or more of the following; Taylor Swift, thrift stores, highway wildflowers, all things fuzzy
If you have ever been made to feel less than the models on the cover of magazines. If you have been conditioned to pick apart every single body part and critique endlessly. If you are exhausted from that script, I want to give you an experience that challenges all of that and reminds you have permission to be free in your skin, to say without hesitation or apology “Wow. I am so beautiful.”
I love hearing that. Because that part is half of what I do and why I do it. for me therapy is very physical, it’s always been that way. I graduated with my masters in mental health counseling in 2013 and always felt a little stifled with the techniques and skills being taught. “Don’t cross your legs when sitting across from a client.” “If a client asks you a question about yourself, ask them how that information would be helpful to them.” “always put it back on them.” Wuhhhhhhttttt?! I will never hit you with any of those techniques. My approach to counseling is so vastly different from the traditional. Actually, so is my approach to life. But there are concepts that overlap and my goal as a counselor and a photographer has always been the same; to make the person in front of me feel seen and valued and empower them to find the light within themselves. Boudoir is a lesson and practice in empowerment. And it’s also an art form. My wish for you is that you get to experience the art of empowerment.
Wanna know a secret? Shooting boudoir was a step outside of my comfort zone too. But the year I started, I made a promise to myself to step outside of my comfort zone. And I am so glad that I did because now boudoir is the ONLY thing I want to photograph. And guess what, I share those nerves with you before every session. Because it’s totally normal and I welcome any and all emotions that come on during this experience. After the first 5 minutes, those nerves start to quiet and by the end, you may not even recognize yourself. I hear “when can I do that again?” on the regular.
You absolutely are and I am going to help you see it. But it’s also my job to help bring out that sexy. Believe me, you are not on your own. I will coach you, guide you and cheer you on throughout this experience. At times, I’ll help you play up the sexy through prompts and poses. Other times, I will capture you as the natural beautiful that you are.
People often say the camera adds 10 pounds but, honestly, I call BS on that. A great photographer knows how to pose and style a wardrobe to make you feel your most confident and look your best. I will guide you through wardrobe choices that accentuate your best assets and help coach you into poses that naturally elongate the body and enhance your natural curves. Plus, wouldn’t it be really amazing if we stopped tricking ourselves into believing that we need to lose 10 pounds? Let’s just release that pressure from our lives right now. Feel better? Me too.
My boudoir experience is meant to celebrate you in this season of your life and to allow you to see yourself as the beauty that you are. So photoshop? Kinda but not really. Let me explain. I intricately retouch each image by smoothing skin and enhancing the overall image with my editing style. But that photoshop you speak of? I do that in camera through posing and wardrobe. My favorite part of my photoshop free approach is watching you see yourself as the work of art that you are, no photoshop necessary.
After you book your session, I send you a questionnaire that helps me have a better sense of your style and concept for the session. After that, the fun part begins with a mood board collaboration. I begin adding pieces that are linked to actual shops my clients have had a positive experience with. Some women like to work in props, while others like to keep it simple. I help guide you through wardrobe styles and fit to bring your vision to life.
I never share images without written permission. Your images are for YOU and whoever you choose to enjoy them with. You may have already noticed a lot of the same beautiful faces on my website and instagram! That’s because I purposefully book portfolio sessions throughout the year with individuals that allow me to use their images so I can show you all the gorgeousness I hope you create for you without compromising anyone's privacy. Believe me, I fully understand.
The longest relationship you will ever be in, the one you will work the hardest on, the one that will be equally the most challenging and rewarding, is the relationship you have with yourself. Be your own superhero. Be a gift to yourself. Give yourself the love you so freely give to others.
My private studio is located in Westwood, New Jersey. If you haven't been before, highly recommend! It's just the sweetest town. What I love most about my studio...besides everything? The natural light, exposed brick wall, designated changing area, reveal space and private bathroom would be a few. But truly, the space is my happy place. Every time I walk through the doors of my studio, I feel at home and I hope you do too.
Budget 3-4 hours for your experience. I like to designate An hour and a half for hair and makeup. And our shoot time will be, at most, two hours. Posing is no joke and hard work! You will most likely be sore the next day....which means you did a good job!
Ready for this...the SAME DAY!!! The fun and excitement doesn’t end once we stop shooting. We'll break for an hour-ish and you'll come back to view your photos and design your album!
Of course! Boudoir is a luxury experience and we’ll make a payment schedule work according to your timeline.
Booking a boudoir session was way outside of my comfort zone, but I wanted to do something special for my husband's 45th birthday. I was definitely nervous but as soon as the session started, Katie’s energy and reassurance made me feel so confident. From the beginning all the way to receiving my gallery, I felt so beautiful. When I gave my husband his album, I couldn’t believe his reaction. He actually had tears in his eyes and was so impressed with how sexy and classy it was at the same time. He asked me to thank Katie. It was truly a gift for both of us.
Yes, I want you to look at these photos and see yourself as sexy. But so much more than that, I want you to see yourself as a unique work of art. Because that is exactly what I see. Art this beautiful deserves to live outside of your hard drive. During your viewing party, I will help you decide product options that help you celebrate you in all your sexy glory.
Experience begins $595
All sessions include pre-session planning to discuss looks, inspiration and talk all about how to make this an empowering experience for you. Together, we'll create a mood board to bring it all together and give you direction on how to prepare and how to shop for lingerie. You'll have your makeup done with an award winning makeup artist. We'll celebrate you with a photoshoot with up to 3 looks in my private studio. And finally, watch the transformation come to life with same day viewing of your images and product selection!
