What made you want to book a boudoir session?
After having two kids, I felt like I had lost touch with a part of myself. I love being a mom, but somewhere along the way I stopped feeling like me. When I came across Katie’s work, I couldn’t stop looking at it. Her images are beautiful, classy, and artistic. They didn’t look overly posed or forced, just effortlessly powerful. I was completely enamored. I wanted to feel like the women I saw in her photos: confident, feminine, sexy, and strong. I also loved the idea of creating something special for myself and my husband.
Was there anything holding you back from booking your session?
Absolutely. I was nervous about my body. I’m still adjusting to the changes that come with having two kids, and putting myself in front of a camera in lingerie felt intimidating. I questioned whether I would think I looked good enough or feel comfortable enough. But deep down, I knew that waiting until I felt perfect would mean I’d never do it. I didn’t want to miss out on the experience because of my own doubts or insecurities.
What was your favorite part of the boudoir experience?
Honestly, how Katie made me feel. From the moment I walked in, she created such a safe, supportive, uplifting environment. She guided me through everything and made it fun instead of intimidating. I forgot about my insecurities and just leaned into the experience. Seeing the final images was one of the best parts. It was emotional, exciting and validating. I saw myself in a way I hadn’t in years. And surprising my husband with the album? That was priceless. He was ecstatic, and it was so fun to share that moment with him.
What would you tell someone who is thinking about this experience but is feeling hesitant?
Do it anyway. The nerves are expected and Katie even talks you through those nerves before the session. Once you get there, they disappear so quickly. You don’t need to lose weight, tone up, or prepare your body in any way to be worthy of this experience. The whole point is to celebrate yourself as you are right now. It’s empowering in a way that’s hard to describe until you experience it. You will walk away with a big smile and standing a little taller.
When you look at your photos, how would you describe the woman you see?
I see a woman who is strong, feminine, confident, and radiant. I see a mom, but I also see me. I see someone who is sexy, empowered, and finally comfortable in her own skin. It reminded me that those parts of me never left, they were just waiting to be rediscovered.
Why KB Boudoir?
Katie’s work speaks for itself. Her images are artistic, elegant, timeless and tasteful. But beyond that, it’s the way she makes you feel. She doesn’t just take photos; she gives you an experience. She gave me back a piece of myself I didn’t even realize was missing, and I am so grateful I chose her. I truly can’t wait to do it again.
